Many of our "first time" meetings in the past started as a weekend meetings. Some of these later changed to VBS meetings, revivals, family singing, etc. In some churches we have continued to have this weekend type meeting for years.
On the Saturday children's meeting, we have called it "Camp-4-A-Day" or "SUPER-SATURDAY". This is a great opportunity for outreach, and many have found new prospects for their bus ministry. They are invited back for a special junior church service for that Sunday morning.
On Sunday we just follow the pastor’s leading for "what to do where", and have different combinations of services. The combined Sunday school classes have often proved as a good shift from the routine, and have even given opportunities for teachers to get some new ideas. We have often sung in the morning service, and then transferred midstream to the junior church. This meeting has been a proven way to start having special children’s services in churches, and to draw in visitors for a special combination of services on a Sunday. Any scriptural way to reach new people with the Gospel always has God’s blessings upon it.
